This website (or blog, really) is to help your child gain focus and discover the gift of mathematics at this point in life.  I am looking forward to a great year helping with that discovery as I pursue my own graduate studies in math education.  (My bachelor’s is in business, and my master’s is in middle school education.)

As a retired first sergeant, I can recall meeting a lot of young people who came out of school underprepared for the challenges they faced.  Some of them had the extra pressures of families and extended families to support.  Some of them just got lost along the way.  I knew I wanted to do something about that when the time came for me to retire, and I know I made the right decision.  I absolutely love teaching!

Your young student - my colleague in class – has an enormous opportunity to excel right here at Walker-Grant Middle School.  I plan on helping to maximize that potential in mathematics and in the business of getting organized and focused on higher levels of education.  I do believe in the idea of shared responsibility as resident members of this society.  I do not believe we can adequately meet those responsibilites without a solid education and a sense of the world that leads to life-long learning.

I can tell you your child is off to a good start at Walker-Grant.    Speaking as a former sapper, my pledge to you is to do my part in helping to keep that pathway clear.
