Project One – Almost Done!

Well, colleagues, looks like some of you put some real thought into your projects.  With your interims in hand, I’m sure you know that your score on Project One (there are three) is not part of the mix.  Just your Decision Sheet was, so that you could tell me and your folks what form your project would take.  Since Project One’s score comes after the interim, it will affect your report card.  And for the most part, from what I have seen so far, things should be pretty good.

I saw creativity, organization and most of all, understanding of the math concept you presented.  The best presentations were those that anyone could walk up to actually learn something from what they saw – something on a 7th grade level of course!  I saw that on posters and poster boards, mobiles, scrolls, crosswords, hidden words, games, powerpoint presentations and classes acted out.  I am looking forward to seeing what the rest of you have and wrapping this up on Monday.  After that – here come the equations, Pre-Algie!  And Math Sev-ahnn, we’re going to play with intergers.

But be aware, sports fans – you could have a surprise ‘pop’ in on you at any time!  Have a good weekend, colleagues.

And Now, A Word From Our Sponsor…

Better make that quite a few words!  Some our colleagues asked about a list of vocabulary words to use with their projects.  Well, the link I have here (Our Math Vocabulary) is to get you the official definitions of any math terms we have covered or will cover in class.  But I would not try to print it if I were you – it is over 100 pages long!  Why?  Because it covers everything from 6th grade through 8th grade.  So that will help with those of you who are making crossword puzzles and need those extra words for fillers.

Good luck, all – Happy Thanksgiving!!

Project: Math Project!

Well, here’s hoping that you can be a little more creative on the title, colleagues!

But your Math Project is indeed ‘out there’, as they say, so now we have to figure out what we have.  One thing is for sure – you have a wide range of choices!  And I’m looking forward to seeing which ones you pick.

We talked about some of the rules: It has to be on a topic we covered this year.  You can have one other partner or you can do it all yourself.   If you choose to pair up, you have to have a partner who can get together with you to actually do the work.  No sense choosing someone that you can only communicate with in school.  And you have to choose something that you have the means to do (in other words, if you do not have access to a camera, then you probably should not choose to make a video!).

With all that, people,  this thing should be a breeze!  And by the way you do have guidance from me personally – in the form of this Grading Sheet attachment that I’m posting right here!  081119-math-project-rubric

I am looking forward to seeing what comes from the minds of our young mathematicians these days, colleagues.  REPRESENT!!
