JUST A REMINDER THAT THERE WILL BE NO SCHOOL ON MONDAY, JANUARY 18, 2010

H1N1 vaccines MAY be available on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at LUES at 5:30 P.M.  This is tentative and dependant on vaccine availablility from the Health Department.  Please keep checking this website for updates or for notices your child may bring home.  Updates will be posted on the school e-Alerts. 

Some Reminders:

• The clinic will begin at 5:30 P.M.  Families should not arrive at the school before 4:30 P.M.
• There is no cost for the H1Ni vaccine.
• The vaccine is being offered to all students enrolled in FCPS, Head Start, and their siblings.  We will not vaccinate parents.
• The vaccines are first come, first serve, until the supply is exhausted.
• Students with fevers will not be vaccinated.
• There will be nurses available to answer your questions about this vaccine.  You may also visit www.cdc.gov for more information.

Congratulations to the following Pumpkin Fun Run winners. The Pumpkin Fun Run was held after school on Tuesday, October 27.  These students will be recognized at the December School Board Meeting:

Parents, we invite you to adopt your child’s classroom for the 2009-2010 school year.  As an Adopt-A-lassroom parent, you would help to enrich the classroom experience and increase both the teachers’ and students’ chances for success.  As a sponsor, you or your business would donate a tax-deductible gift of any amount form $25.00 to 500.00 to your child’s classroom.  Your total donation (100%) would be given to your child’s teacher.  In turn, your child’s teacher would be able to purchase classroom supplies and resources.  If you are interested or need more information, please contact Mrs. Andrea Bumbrey, Assistant Principal.  Congratulations to the following teachers whose classroom has been “adopted”.

Make-Up School Pictures will be taken on November 20, 2009. They will be

taken from 8:30 A.M. to 10:00 A.M.  All pictures will be pre-paid.  Students

will bring information home soon!

Fredericksburg City Public Schools will host a vaccination clinic for the H1N1

(Swine) Flue on Wednesday, November 4 at Lafayette Upper Elementary

School.  Important Clinic Information:

• The clinic will begin at 5:30 P.M. and families should arrive at the school before 4:30 P.M. 
• There is no cost for the H1N1 vaccine.
• The vaccine is being offered to all students enrolled in Fredericksburg City Public Schools and Head Start.  This will include their siblings between the ages of 6 months and 24 years old.
• The vaccines are first come, first serve, until the supply is exhausted.
• Only the inactivated, injectable form of the vaccine will be administered.
• Students with fevers will not be vaccinated.
• Please bring a completed consent form with you if you have one.  If you do not have one, they will be available at the clinic.  The consent form and vaccine information are also available on the FCPS website:  www.cityschools.com

Please keep in mind that the clinic is TENTATIVE.  In the event there is no vaccine available from the Health Department, the clinic will be cancelled by the morning of November 4.  Please watch for cancellations and rescheduled clinics on Channel 18, the school website, and on flyers that your child may bring home.

Fredericksburg City Public Schools will be offering all city public school

students, grades Pre-Kindergarten through High School, vaccinations

for the Swine Flu on Thursday, October 22 and Wednesday, October 28 from

5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Lafayette Upper Elementary School.  There is no

charge for these shots.  Your child received a Parental Consent Form and

you must have this form when you get the shot.  If you need additional forms,

you can pick one up on the main office or you can obstain one the day of the

shots.  Any questions related to this event, contact the Office of Student
