2010 2011 JM Course of Studies Principal’s Message The James Monroe High School Course of Studies contains descriptions of all of our high school courses, programs, and requirements for the 2010-2011 school year. Graduation requirements including an explanation of the necessary verified credits are included in this document.  It remains extremely important for all students, parents, and guardians to maintain close contact with not only our school counselors, but also the classroom teachers concerning progress towards graduation. We have many resources and people available to assist students, parents, and guardians in making the best informed decisions about class schedules, course selections, college, and career choices. Please choose courses carefully and with a great deal of commitment. Excellent school attendance is a key component of student and school success.  As we continue to meet the No Child Left Behind mandates, it becomes much more important that the partnership among the student, the parent and/or guardian, and the classroom teacher remain in constant communication.  Please continue to establish your individualized communication model with the staff and administration of James Monroe High School. I encourage every student to select the most appropriate, challenging courses available that meet your abilities and goals, and I wish everyone the greatest success in all of your endeavors. The principal’s coffee will be held on February 24th from 8 AM – 3:00 PM in the conference room at James Monroe High School. Please stop by and enjoy a cup of coffee, juice or a soft drink with Principal Gordon.  No appointment necessary.

James Monroe High School’s  back to school night for the second semester will be held on February 23rd  from 6:30 – 8:00 PM.

The JM Varsity Football “Senior Night” game against Courtland has been postponed from tonight to Monday, November 16th at Maury Stadium. Kick off at 7:00 PM

THE  JV FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME BETWEEN KING GEORGE AND JAMES MONROE SCHEDULED FOR THIS SATURDAY AT MAURY STADIUM  WILL BE PLAYED TUESDAY NIGHT  @  KING GEORGE. GAME TIME  is 700PM..

Parent -Teacher Conferences will be held on November 10th from 3:00 – 5:00 PM.  Appointments are necessary. Please call JMHS’ main office  (540-372-1100) to schedule your conference.

Tonight’s Homecoming Football game against Caroline is still on as scheduled. Kick off time is 7:30 p.m. Please dress appropriately for the game as it will be wet and cold. Show your school pride by wearing your Black & Orange and see you at Maury Stadium!

President Obama’s Student Welcome Back Address on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at approximately 1 p.m. will be shown at James Monroe High School at the discretion of the teacher. Teachers have the freedom to also use the address as a supplemental resource during instruction.

All outdoor sports activities for today (August 18) have been cancelled.  Football will practice in the gymnasium.

All JM outdoor sports practices for today, August 10th, 2009 has been cancelled due to heat index.

The Lacrosse, Baseball & Softball games that were scheduled for today have been postponed due to wet fields.

The boys’ & girls basketball games against Easternview that was scheduled for tonight have been postponed to a later date due to inclement weather. Culpeper schools are closed to day.

The track meet for 12/10/2008 has been cancelled.

The Track meet that was scheduled for today against King George/Spotylvania has been cancelled.

Attention Parents & Visitors: Please use the bus/student entrance at James Monroe High School which is the second entrance. There is a sink hole in the pavement that is being worked on. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Due to the heavy rain down in the beach area James Monroe field hockey doubleheader with York and Grafton has been postponed, make up date or dates will be determined at a later time

Field Hockey game at Caroline scheduled for today has been cancelled.
