Term 1 Grades for Colleges or Universities
Seniors, if you need your Term 1 grades mailed to a college or university, please make your request in writing to Mrs. Ripley in guidance. Grades are not mailed automatically.
February After Prom Meeting
The Next After Prom meeting will be held on Monday, February 8th at 7:00 PM in the school library. All Junior parents are welcome and encouraged to attend. Please note in case of bad weather and the school is closed the back up date will be Wednesday, February 10th at 7:00 PM
Young Life Pancake Breakfast
Get you exam day started off right by coming to the Young Life pancake breakfast on Tuesday morning starting at 7:15 in the lecture hall.
Baseball Conditioning
Off-season Baseball conditioning will be at Lafayette Upper Elementary School on Saturday, February 6th has been cancelled.
Second Semester Parking Fee
Second Semester parking fees are now due. Also students if your spot is not clear due to snow please see Mrs. Thacher for approved locations to park. Students are not allowed to park in the side faculty lot or the band/gym lot at any time.
French Club News
The French Club will meet on Wednesday, January 20 at 3 p.m. in Room 134. We will work on a fund-raiser for Haiti, plans for a dance for Lafayette students, a display board for French courses, and the French blog. Please try to make this meeting. If you cannot, you must see Madame Orgeron in advance.
Swim Team News
The swim team is reminded that tonight (1/19)will be a girls only practice and tomorrow (1/20) night will be a boys only practice. See coach for this week’s announcements.
Drama Club News
The Drama club will hold auditions for the Valentine’s Day Show. This performance will be a selection of love scenes from famous plays such as Romeo & Juliet, Cyrano De Bergerac and a Midsummer Night’s dream to name a few. Auditions are open to all students. You do not need to prepare anything beforehand. See you at 3:15PM in the auditorium. If you have questions, see your Drama Club officers – Emily Burke and Jackie King-Wack.
Boys’ Soccer
For all boys interested there will be open soccer Thursday the 21st from 3:15 to 4:45 at JM. Students must have a ride home at 4:45.
National Junior Honor Society Meeting
The National Junior Honor Society will meet on Thursday after school in the library. All members must attend the meeting
Library requests calculators be turned in
All Ti83 and Ti84 calculators must be turned into the Library by Friday.
JM Lacrosse Fund Raiser
All JM Lacrosse players must pick up their order forms and fundraising sheets from Coach Snyder before Friday, January 15th. This is mandatory. Players are needed to sign up to help with the fundraiser.
JM Baseball conditioning
Off season Baseball conditioning scheduled for Saturday, January 30th has been cancelled.
JM Cafeteria requests lunch counts be current
All students are asked to please keep your lunch count current. Parents or students can pre-pay funds to their account at any time so funds are available when needed to avoid charging meals.
Exam Survival Kits Available
This is the last week to order your exam survival kit for someone you care about. See Mrs. Dyer, a DECA student or go to the school store to order yours today. It will be filled with goodies and a note from you. Delivery will be on the first day of exams.
James Monroe Home Basketball Games
Students can purchase tickets to JM home basketball games for the months of December & January during lunch for $3.00 from Coach Serbay. Purchase your tickets so you can be a member of the Monroe Maniacs and let everyone know “We are James Monroe” when our boys take the court on Friday night.
Fellowship of Christian Athletes Meeting
The Fellowship of Christian Athletes will meet every Friday morning in the lecture hall (Rm 120) at 7:15 AM. Everyone is welcome. Please come out and join us in prayer for your family, friends, community and school.
After Prom Committee Meeting
The After Prom Committee will meet on January 12th, 2010, at 7pm in the JM library. All parents of junior students are welcome and encouraged to attend. If you have any questions, please call Trish McDaniel at (540) 373-4815. Please come and help ensure your child has a great Prom memory to cherish!
Tardy Matrix Revised
This is a revision to the August Newsletter.
This policy will encompass both tardy to school and tardy to class. The first week of school will be considered a grade period.
1st Tardy – Warning issued and a tardy pass to class.
2nd Tardy – Detention assigned and a tardy pass to class.
3rd Tardy – One day of In School Suspension (ISS)
4th Tardy – Two days of ISS and an Administrator will contact the parent.
5th Tardy – Three days of ISS
6th Tardy – Three days of ISS and Parent Contacted
7th Tardy – Three days of ISS and Parent Contacted
8th Tardy – Three days of ISS and Parent Contacted
We will also conduct random “CLEAN SWEEPS” in which teachers will be instructed to lock their classroom doors when the tardy bell rings. All tardy students will be escorted to the lecture hall where consequences will range from 1 day of ISS to 3 days of ISS.
No outside food or drinks to be brought into JM
Students are reminded that they are not to bring outside food or drinks into James Monroe High School during school hours. This means no McDonald’s, Pizza, Starbucks, etc.. is allowed at any time. Disciplinary actions may be taken for students who violate this school policy.
