After Prom Committee Meeting
The After Prom Committee will meet on January 12th, 2010, at 7pm in the JM library. All parents of junior students are welcome and encouraged to attend. H1N1 Vaccination Clinics for Fredericksburg City Public Schools
Fredericksburg City Public Schools clinic for the H1N1 vaccine will be held on November 11th at Lafayette Upper Elementary School starting at 5;30 PM. This vaccine is being offered to all students enrolled in the Fredericksburg City Schools, Head Start and their siblings between the ages of 6 months and 24 years old. The vaccines are first come, first served until the supply is exhausted. Only the inactivated, injectable form of the vaccine will be administered. Students with fevers will not be vaccinated. Please bring the completed consent form with you if possible, if not there will be forms available at the clinic. The consent form and vaccine information are also available on the FCPS website: www.cityschools.com . Please keep in mind this date is TENTATIVE. In the event there is no vaccine available from the Health Department, the clinic will be cancelled by the morning of the scheduled clinic. Please watch for cancellations and rescheduled clinics on Channel 18, the school website and on flyers that your student may bring home.
College Representatives Visit James Monroe
Attention Seniors: A representative from Lynchburg College will be at JM on Thursday at 8 AM. Any senior interested in meeting with a representative should secure a pass from the counseling center.
Homecoming Football Game is a GO!
Tonight’s Homecoming Football game against Caroline is still on as scheduled. Kick off time is 7:30 p.m. Please dress appropriately for the game as it will be wet and cold. Show your school pride by wearing your Black & Orange and see you at Maury Stadium!
Your help is needed for a cleaner Fredericksburg
Enter our poster contest and win a prize of $75.00. Posters will be judged on their ability to make people THINK ABOUT THEIR ACTIONS: responsible disposal of cigarette butts. City Council Recognition. All posters will be displayed downtown. No limit to size or number of submissions. Submit posters up until November 1, 2009.
Tardy Matrix Revised
This is a revision to the August Newsletter.
This policy will encompass both tardy to school and tardy to class. The first week of school will be considered a grade period.
1st Tardy – Warning issued and a tardy pass to class.
2nd Tardy – Detention assigned and a tardy pass to class.
3rd Tardy – One day of In School Suspension (ISS)
4th Tardy – Two days of ISS and an Administrator will contact the parent.
5th Tardy – Three days of ISS
6th Tardy – Three days of ISS and Parent Contacted
7th Tardy – Three days of ISS and Parent Contacted
8th Tardy – Three days of ISS and Parent Contacted
We will also conduct random “CLEAN SWEEPS” in which teachers will be instructed to lock their classroom doors when the tardy bell rings. All tardy students will be escorted to the lecture hall where consequences will range from 1 day of ISS to 3 days of ISS.

Tuesday is Michael Jackson Tribute Day
Wednesday is Color Wars Day
Thursday is Decades Day(Decades is the theme of the dance)
Friday is Spirit Day.
Each class has its own decade.
Seniors have the 80’s
Juniors have the 70’s
Sophomores have the 60’s
Freshman have the 50’s.
T-shirts will be on sale starting MONDAY for $10 in Mr. Hine’s and Mr. Gron’s rooms (228, 246).
Dance tickets will also be on sale MONDAY, $15 single, $20 couple in the library.
The dance is Saturday 10/17 8-11pm.
If you wish to bring a guest to the dance from outside JM, please stop by the office for a permission slip.
Please view the bullentin board near the Freshman lockers in the english hall for information about field day Friday 10/16. If you have any questions about Homecoming, just ask your class officers a member of the SCA, Mr. Gron, or Mr. Hine.”

Hampton-Sydney College Representative Visits JM
A representative from Hampton-Sydney College will visit JM on Tuesday, October 13th at 9 a.m. Any interested senior should secure a pass from the counseling center.
Boys’ Basketball Meeting
There will be a boys’ basketball meeting on Tuesday, October 13th at 3 p.m. in the lecture hall (rm 120). Any boy interested in playing JV or Varsity should attend the meeting. Any questions, please contact Coach Coghill.

No outside food or drinks to be brought into JM
Students are reminded that they are not to bring outside food or drinks into James Monroe High School during school hours. This means no McDonald’s, Pizza, Starbucks, etc.. is allowed at any time. Disciplinary actions may be taken for students who violate this school policy.

Girls Soccer
ATTENTION GIRLS: If you are interested in playing indoor soccer at the fieldhouse starting the last week of October please see Mr. Hine (or Ashley Huff) ASAP for instructions for signing up online. Girls in 8th-10th grade should sign up for the JM C team that will play on Wednesday evenings. Girls in 11th-12th grade and/or who played Varsity last year should sign-up for the B team that plays on Tuesday evenings
Fellowship of Christian Athletes Meeting
The Fellowship of Christian Athletes will meet every Friday in the lecture hall (rm 120) at 7:15 a.m. Please come out for some prayer, praise and fellowship with your classmates. All are welcome!
Barbizon visits JM
A Barbizon representative will be at JM on Oct. 9th during all lunch waves. This is your chance students to ask questions about the industry of Modeling and Acting. They will have hand outs that cover facts on everything from Job Interviwing techniques to What does it cost to live.
Student Athletes Forms to Coaches
All Freshman and Sophomore Fall athletes must submit your progress reports to your coaches every Thursday before practice. If you have any questions, Freshman should see Ms. Cavataio and Sophomores are to see Mrs. Rachal.
