This may make it difficult for some of you to work out schedules, but we are going to embrace this change here in room 13 and make the best possible use of our time! This additional 20 minutes will be used to provide enrichment and remediation opportunities to students with SOLS in future years in mind. My students will recieve this remediation and enrichment in both Mathematics and Language Arts in the form of small group center work. Please send in snacks for this additional time at the end of the day to keep their little brains fed and engaged! Thanks for all your support!

**REMEMEBER, THIS ADDITIONAL 20 MINUTES LASTS UNTIL MAY 8TH!

On Monday, March 1st, the first grade class will be heading to the Fredericksburg field house for a great day of games, altheltics, cooperation, and most of all FUN! I am very excited to have 5 chaperones coming along to join us for the day in this great tradition (which I will be experiencing for the first time). Be sure to ask your student about all the fun they have had at the field house!

Please be aware that some of the activities listed on your child’s behavior log may change due to the recent numerous snow days.   I tried to take off  the events that I knew would change.  I most likely did not get all of them though, so please know that times and dates may change.

I wanted to let my parents and students know that I did something I am very proud of. I cut off 14 inches of hair and donated to Locks of Love. This is the second time I have donated my hair, and I feel great about having done so. It was a difficult decision to make, but I love my new haircut! I hope my students can still recognize me without the long ponytail to search for! :) Hope everyone enjoyed the extra day off from school and the couple hours of additional sleep!

The arctic animal project is due on Wednesday, January 20th, 2010. Your student has researched their arctic animal. They have found out what their animal eats, where they live, what they look like, and many other interesting facts. Please help your student create a display box all about their arctic animal. Shoe boxes work well! Feel free to use the link on this page to find more information and some great pictures! (Kid friendly sites- sign in as a guest)
