America on the Move

This Smithsonian Website chronicles the history of transportation in the US. Basically, it covers everything we’ve been studying this year and more.  I really recommend that you take your time on it because it is full of so many primary source pictures and documents.  http://americanhistory.si.edu/onthemove/.

There are also 3 games available, each has a lot of offer students of US History.  So far I have really enjoyed them but my favorite is the game titled “Be a Movie Director”.  If you select the scenario called “Gangsters on the Run” you get to make a silent black and white film (like we’ve been studying) and film a gangsters getaway.  Remember, gangs and crime increased during Prohibition, so all of your pictures should be from the early twentieth century.  Have fun!
